Day 482 - Roxy Rolls In & Panic Packing

The gorjuss Roxy showed up this morning for a visit. I’m doing my very best to get organized & everything packed & ready for the big departure. I still had some errands to run in the city, so her & I decided we would go into town & stop by a raw shop she’d discovered, go for lunch at a raw café & then meet Collet at Ikea.

And then I took too long. For everything. Roxy ended up rushing home to sort out a tenant issue, so we missed our stop at the Light Cellar (Bowness – check it out!), as well as our lunch. I did meet up with Collet at Ikea. That seems to be our thing as of late! I think the past 3 times I’ve seen Collet, it’s been at Ikea!

Zeke has grown so much! He is a little cutie! He was very smiley & happy-go-lucky. Ezra, well, Ezra was a handful. He certainly didn’t like me! He went spastic when I tried to push the cart – he didn’t want me to touch the cart & tried to peel off my hands, punch my hands & scream VERY loudly. Oh dear. I’m telling you… Give me girls!

It was a long day & a VERY cold day. I can’t get out of this country quick enough! Give me heat & sunshine!

Oh! I also posted Jaco’s application for Canada! Finally! It’s on its way! We’re one step closer to living in Canada together!

Gotta run… plenty of packing yet to do!

Day 284 - Bright Lights, Big City

Today was my only day to run errands in the city, so I left mid-morning to get as much done as I could.

  • Costco
  • Superstore
  • Bank
  • Staples
  • Chapters
  • Safeway
  • Fuel
  • Community Natural Foods
  • Vistek

Yeah. I didn't accomplish much! I was about half-way through my list when I got a whopper of a headache! I grabbed a quick bite to eat & headed home. Tomorrow is chemo & I need to get stuff ready for that. Additionally, I'd like to get to bed 4+ hrs before I need to wake up. I have the idea that if I stay up late, I'll be tired & too exhausted to care too much about the treatment. Method to my madness? :o)

A bright point in my day - I've discovered how to make a HEALTHY Vanilla Bean Frappuccino! I'm pretty excited, as it's a yummy drink, but VERY unhealthy & WAY too expensive to enjoy. If you want to try it here's my SECRET recipe:

  • Vanilla Almond Milk - more
  • Whipping Cream - a little
  • Ice Cubes - some
  • Agave Nectar - a bit
  • Half a Vanilla pod sliced open & scraped into the blender
  • Mix amounts to your discretion & enjoy! (yesterday's blend w/out ice was nice & thick & creamy)

In any case, short day with little to report. Tomorrow will be another long day... Stay tuned!

I did see this SWEET scooter while in town. It's not a Vespa, but I would still drive one! Oooh, a bright red Vespa is on my list! :o)

OMGosh! A scooter with photos of Africa on it!

...And Frangipani flowers!?!? Oh my heart!

I can totally picture myself & Valentina, her ears blowing in the wind, jetting around some sunny location... On our way to meet Papa on his blue Vespa!

Day 277 - Errands.

Wow. I'm realizing that today is day 277 - it's nearly a year since I started this blog! Where does the time go? I mean, July is pretty much done! Life is whizzing by at an incredible pace... No wonder I get dizzy!

Today was low key, compared to the action & vibrancy of yesterday! I muddled around most of the day at home. I'm not too sure what I did, but it took me most of the day! I left for town at 1600 & went to Calgary to get some groceries. I picked up a toy for Valentina. It was a cute crocodile. With a squeaker. It didn't last long. Poor fella. Even after I picked up the pieces, she still whiled obsessively & contemplated a way to climb up the table legs!

It poured rain in town tonight, but it was nice & warm. I was at Costco in the northeast when it rained & they have a bunch of cedar shavings in the parking lot. They were wet (obviously) & they smelled wonderful!

While I was checking out at Costco, the clerk was grabbing for a hair she felt stuck to her lips. I commented & said I don't have that problem anymore. She said she never thought of it that way, but maybe she'd give it a try (shaving her head). I told her I was going to lose mine anyways, so I might as well shave it off. I explained that I had cancer. She then says, 'Well, I suppose, it could be worse.' Um, pardon my ignorance & maybe it very well could be, but isn't the more 'worse' than cancer death? Before I had time to contemplate it any more, I hear the clerk behind me getting yelled at by some guy 'with a funny accent' who tried to sign with his wife's credit card. His wife was standing right beside him. Why couldn't she sign for it? Oh these cultural differences really get to me... Especially when they put down women... But I need to sleep, so I won't get started on that! :o)

Tomorrow is a cleaning day, as James & James are coming to visit! I'm very excited to see them! They are ship mates & have been traveling around western Canada these past few months, so I'm grateful I get included as a stop!

Okay, I'm wiped & I'm am flat out of things to say... Lekker slaap & see you tomorrow! Oh, Jaco comes in 17 days... FINALLY!!!! It feels like I haven't seem him for 12 months, not 2!

Day 261 - Rainy Day

Ahhhh. The sweet feeling of waking up & then going back to sleep, knowing you don't have anything to wake up for! I slept until 1100! Mom & Unka Jer were in & out of the house with this & that. I took the time to catch up on paperwork & forms that had arrived in the past few weeks. I also took the first step to creating a business! Whoo hoo! That was a rush! Exciting, but I'm a long ways from anything fruitful!

I decided to head to town to pick up some things. I wouldn't have a chance in the coming week with treatment & all, so I decided today was as good as any other! By the time I was organized & left, it was after 1500! Whoops! Luckily I managed to get everything done that was on my list.

Shortly before I left, we experienced a torrential downpour! Wow! I've never heard the rain like that before! You know it's raining hard when it sounds like wind! There were quite a few puddles lying around & when I went to pull onto the highway, I had to wait for 12 vehicles to go by before I could turn! I guess everyone was fed up with the weather & they were headed back to their comfy & dry beds in the city!

I stopped in at Mom2's & had a quick visit. They were both in bed already, but she came downstairs & we had a chat. She finally received her wigs & they look FABULOUS!!! Her's are all blonde & they look really good on her! We also walked out to the garden - she has such a green thumb! It is ridiculous how lush her flower beds & garden are! Wow!

Not wanting to keep her up & wanting to get home myself, we hugged goodbye & I was on my way. Sheesh. This turned into a long day too! G'nite all!
