Not quite a Vespa, but her first scooter!

Okay! So I finally mustered (hee, hee, haven't used that word since ship days!), finally mustered up the energy to venture out today. Valentina & I made our way to Little Italy. It was a slight disappointment, considering that the majority of Little Italy is fantastic eating establishments that I can not enjoy. Pasta made with white flour & tomato sauce. Can you spell T-O-R-T-U-R-E?!?!? In any case, it was nice to get out of the hotel room for awhile.

I took the bus, then the trolley. On the way back, trolley, then bus. Yeah, so? Well, on the way there... I got off the bus & was waiting for the trolley. I spotted this Eminem wannabe... White track suit, black shirt, black hat backwards, beady eyes, fake diamond watch... He was across the tracks, then crossed to my side. He got on the same trolley as I did, only a different car. Next thing I know, 2 stops later, he gets on my car. I finally looked at his beady eyes. Gross! Barf! Ugh! His entire eye was black. He must have had some kind of weird contacts that covered all of his eye. It was the creepiest thing I've ever seen. To make matters worse, I don't know what he had down his pants, it certainly wasn't 'natural', but whatever it was, it looked ridiculous & he kept adjusting it. Gross! Barf! Ugh! Makes me shiver just recalling it!

Anyhow, I rode my way to Little Italy & I forget where he got off the trolley. On the way back, I stopped at City Dog & picked up a squeaker blanket for Valentina - 16 squeakers in a mini-square quilt. She's in heaven! I hop back on the trolley & one stop later - the same creepy guy! OMGosh! I'm totally paranoid now! I'm digging for my phone, thank goodness it finally works! I can dial 911. He better not steal my dog. I'll scream. I don't care if he has a gun. I have no money. My passport is in the hotel room. What if he's working with someone? Who is he looking at? I can't stand to look at him. A million & one thoughts are racing through my mind. To make matters worse, it's getting dark & he gets off at my stop. Great. This is it. This is the moment I've been dreading. Here comes the confrontation I've been trying so hard to avoid.

Phone in hand, I beeline it for the bus stop. Thank goodness it was busy. Who's that? Hallelujah! It's a ticket cop! I love the ticket cops!!! I look around for White-Track-Suit-Freaky-Black-Eyed-Fake-Wiener-Man... No where to be seen! Sigh of relief! I did see the lady that cleans rooms at the hotel. At least she's a semi-familiar face! I waved at her & said hello. Turns out she speaks very little English. We tried to talk in very broken Spanglish. She was so funny... She was trying to tell me a story about her friend who took her to the casino... It was all in Spanish, but for the odd English word dropped in there... la la la friend la la la casino la la la dinero la la la friend la la la friend la la la casino la la la... It was quite entertaining to try & follow along with the entire story when only 3 words were in English! I think she was trying to tell me that they went to the casino, even though she never goes. She won $40 & she quit there before she lost anymore. For all I know she just told me that she won $40 million & was asking me if I wanted a couple mill & I just laughed at her! :o)

When I returned to the hotel, I had a message from Antonio & Kitty. They were out of the hospital & wanted to see me before they left. They came up to the room & we had a little visit. We then decided to venture over to Coco's. They didn't have any liver, but I decided that steak & a baked potato would do. They enjoyed dessert & I had steak & mini-lobster. It was great. I enjoyed laughing & talking with them about life & learning of their journey to this point in time. I am so happy that I met both of them & I look forward to crossing paths again soon. If you've got some extra prayer space add Antonio to your prayer list... He needs healing in his heart & veins & also for his Tourette's. I'm excited to see them in Utah one day & meet their children & also their Dapple Daxsie - Apple!

Valentina & I played laser tag until the laser pointer died. I think she's getting pudgy - she was near panting - her cute little pink tongue started to hang out of her mouth. I think she's got me figured. Near the end she would just stand there & look at my hand. Uh oh. Well, it was fun while it lasted! I'll upload another video of her playing with her new 16 squeaker toy... At one point she stops & looks at the camera & you can see her little teeth sticking out - like she's smiling at me. If there's anything that makes me laugh... that's it! Who knew a little dog could put such a smile in my heart?!?!

Well, that's enough for today... Finally a few more photos! Here's to a beautiful Sunday where ever in the world you are...
Love & hugs,
Maria & Valentina
