Day 107 - Health Show/Dog Show

Howdy Y'all!

I hope this finds you well & enjoying life! Today I actually put on make-up & ventured out into the real world! Mom & I went to the Health Show in Calgary. I was pretty excited about it, thinking I would see a lot of interesting things & learn a lot. It was at the Big 4, along with a dog show in the adjacent halls to the health show. I think I enjoyed the dog show more than the health show!

There were some valid exhibits at the Health Show, but for the most part, it was garbage! It really urks me when people claim something is 'healthy' & then you pick up the product, give it a read & it's loaded with preservatives, carcinogens & other nasty things. How can they market that as healthy?!?

Then you have the other gimmicks. Buy this gaudy little pendant & it will solve the Earth's problems - or something like that. Come on? Do people really fall for that?

Fair enough, there were several legitimate companies there. A.O.R. is a Canadian company & they are the brand of MCP that I purchase. I enjoyed a visit with their representative & she gave me a few mixing tips to make the MCP more palatable!

I also enjoyed a visit with a lady selling Goji, Noni, Sea Buckthorn, Acai, & Cacao superfood drinks. I must have talked her ear off. She was very interesting & their company will actually set you up with a protocol & follow up in 3 weeks to see how you are doing! Impressive!

There was another group of gals who were selling nutrition & personal training appointments. I enjoyed visiting with them, as they were on the same page as I am regarding health & diet.

Perhaps the funniest part of my day was seeing the exhibit for the Naturopath I saw in May of 2008. This gal was the last of 8 Naturopaths I saw in Calgary & area. She was the last straw. She had me completely distressed! She read my CT scan & she looked at me & said, 'How old are you?'
'30.'
'Do you want to live?'
'Uh, yeah.'
'Well, you can do chemo or you'll be dead in a year.'

Needless to say, I left her office scared, crushed, & completely FREAKED OUT!!!! Luckily my level-headed best friend put me back in reality & sent me to a Naturopath in Florida. I think he's part of the reason why things have progressed as slowly as they have. Perhaps his protocol wasn't tough enough to fight the cancer off, but at least it slowed things down.

Anyhow, obviously it's almost 2 years later & I'm still kickin' it. I stopped at her booth, she was on a break & I didn't want to wait for her. I told the gal working with her to please let her know that Jill Taylor stopped by & I'm still alive. The lady looked excited for a minute & then I said, 'She told me I would be dead in a year if I didn't follow her program. I'm very much alive & have no intentions of calling it quits!' Needless to say, the lady's jaw hit the floor. That alone was worth the $8 admission! :o) oooo-ooooo-ooooo I'm a ghost!

Mom enjoyed the show - she had a 15-minute massage & booked one for a week or so. She also bought some walking poles. The gal who was selling them was very passionate about what she was doing & with good reason. She let me feel her bicep muscles & WOWSER! She was hard as a rock! She doesn't lift weights or work out, only walking with the poles! She showed us her before & after photos & honestly, she looks 20 years younger! It's amazing! Even I felt inspired to go for a walk! Check out her site: The Pole Lady

After Mom & I left the show, we poked our head into the Dog Show. All these cute little dogs strutting their stuff & obediently listening to their owner's every command! It was crazy! This one gal was training her Rottweiler. He was so good! He would sit from a distance & wait on her every command. She then piled a bunch of dumbbells in a pile & rubbed one between her hands. She then put it in the pile & the dog had to find 'her' dumbbell. He did awesome! What a good boy!

We stopped at Joey Tomatoes on the way home, but the queue was too long & I told Mom, I'm sure their fish tacos are awesome, but I can't eat the guacamole or hot tomato sauce, which left a corn tortilla, fish & cilantro. I told her we could make it at home for half the price & half the wait! Away we went.

It was crazy foggy on the way home & just before we hit Redwood Meadows, POOF! It was clear as a bell! The stars were fantastic!

I spent the rest of the night cleaning up my room. I decided to sort out my silver chains & ended up taking an old strand of fake pearls, clipping some funky curtain clips onto the pearls & hanging the chains from it. Then I took Jenn's old world map she gave me a few years back, pinned it to the wall & proceeded to stick pins in it with a pendant attached to each pin. So, it's my jewelry box on display! Oh, and I finally hung up the butterflies I picked up in Panama.

Tomorrow I'll tackle the desk. Funny, I clean my room, the desk gets messy. I clean the desk, my room gets messy. Something is wrong with this picture... :o)

Today was also needle no. 8. I am down to the last 7. Oh how I wish I was going to have some reprieve, but somehow I think not. Anyhow...

Tomorrow night I'm off to a friend of Mom's who is going to South Africa. I am excited to talk to her about her upcoming adventure. She lives closer to High River, where my scan is, so I can get a few more zzz's & not have to drive as far!

I had hoped to drive to Medicine Hat for Glen's funeral, but I'm afraid by the time I finish my scan & leave, I will miss the funeral. :o( I had originally planned to visit Jenn & Mike down by Fort McLeod, so I will stick to that plan. It may be a few days until the next post, so in the meantime, stay happy & healthy & see you soon!

Love & hugs,
Maria & Valentina

He was such a good dog!

Finding the dumbbell with his owner's scent. Hmm... Valentina...

Billy Bob having a scrub & fluff before his show tomorrow. He was sleeping when I approached, but woke up when I pulled out my camera. Obviously he likes time at the spa too! :o)

I will never complain about Formal Night portraits on a cruise ship again.

The Health Show.
