Day 144 - WHAT kind of Photography?!

So today started off as a fairly quiet day. I was enjoying the house to myself, playing loud music, doing whatever I wanted until whatever house I chose to... Gosh, I sound like a teenager - sometimes it really sucks living with your Mom.

My Mom is great, she's a huge source of support throughout this entire journey, but some times, grown women just shouldn't live together. As much as I would love to find my own space, it just doesn't make much sense to throw out $600+/month in rent when I'm going to be gone for 1/2 the time!

Meanwhile, back at the ranch...

I sent my letter in to the bankruptcy office & later received a call saying that it would be enough to keep my gear. AMEN!!!! YAY!!! That in itself was enough for celebration. The funny thing was, well, you remember the AHA moment I was talking about earlier? Well, I knew I had to get my butt in gear & do more with my photography. Enter Nicole. Nicole is a friend of mine from Saskatchewan who is very much an Entrepreneur & currently runs her own Salon. If you need a great do & want to leave feeling like a new woman, just visit her at Salon Nini in Indian Head. While you're there, check out her Mom's amazing yard/garden. :o) Anyhow, I hadn't heard from Nicole in quite some time & today she phoned. We chit chatted about my health & her recent trip to Hawaii. I asked her how her photography was going & she said, 'Funny you should ask!'
'Oh?'
'Steve (her husband) & I were just talking about it & he said it's time to '(Poo) or get off the pot''
'Okay.'
'So I'm going to San Diego for a workshop. You should come with me.'
'Sure, what kind of workshop is it?'
'Boudoir'
'Come again?!?'

She sends me to the website & I'm instantly thinking of cheesy, tasteless near porn type of photography. And then the website loads. WOW! I want my pictures taken by these girls!

I see the immediate potential for creating self-esteem & self-worth in women around the world. Helping them realize they ARE beautiful, no matter where they see flaws. Oooh! That would be so much fun! Have your hair & makeup done, look like a supermodel, do yourself proud or give a special gift to your Honey...

Of course, I need to talk it over with Jaco & I should most likely hold on until I've decided what the plan is with my health. I told Nicole I would let her know on the weekend. Hmm, they have a workshop in Paris, France. Maybe I can convince her to go to Paris instead! This could be just the thing I need to reactivate my passion for photography. Weddings, yes, families, yes. Boudoir... never before! Before you think I've lost the plot, checkout their website. It's tasteful & anything but trashy. http://theboudoirdivas.com Let me know what you think! And if you want to be a guinea pig after I've done the workshop! I'll need to build a portfolio!!! :o)

I hang up the phone, naturally excited at the thought of something new, but intimidated by the fact that I know absolutely nothing about this type of photography. As the day goes on & I think about it more & more, and I become more & more excited... I can't wait to talk to Jaco...

I spend the rest of the day researching boudoir photographers in the area & what they charge, check out their portfolios & blogs... Phew! There's a lot of information out there! Interestingly enough, a few of the boudoir photographers have been to San Diego to the same girls for the workshops!

Cross-eyed & overwhelmed from so much research & information, I hit the hay... We'll see what tomorrow will bring!

Lekker slaap,
Maria & Valentina

Fantastic light as the day comes to close

Dark skies & light on the trees.

Jill, I had a look at the boudoir divas's site - looks fabulous! What do you think demand would be like in Bragg Creek/Calgary? Would you be thinking of opening a shop with sets for backdrops? Just a couple things I was thinking about after seeing the site. It also made me think of some of the stuff the photographer we had for our wedding had showed us: http://www.tridentphotography.com/port/portraiture.htm# (the next button is top right to advance the pics). Some similar, some not, but I thought you might be interested. Janis

Hot, hot, hot is all I have to say! Do you think many women will buy into it in this area?? I'm so curious. Don't think I'll be the first in line but maybe the 10th?!?
